2015 in Review - Seeking the Kingdom
2015 has come and gone, and now we are safely in 2016. Thank God! What a year it has been!
As is now customary, 2015 had a special focus - the year of Seeking the Kingdom. This is after a year of Building Faith. The theme was selected to further my growth as a Christian. When I started, it was my intention to strengthen my connection with God, more specifically, to let Him take more control of my life. No doubt this meant learning more about Him through the Word, and learning to hear His voice more. So it begs the question: did I achieve what I set out for?
The short answer- sort of. The long answer: Growing is a journey. If one looks only at discrete moments, it may distort the picture. I had moments of weakness and failings, but I also had moments of triumph and success. There were times when I wasn't sure of God's leading in making certain decisions, and didn't seek it or if I did, it was after the fact. Other times, His voice was clear, sometimes through devotionals, or a word someone would send or a message at church. If I were to look at the aggregate, therefore, I'd say I grew a few centimeters.
Key take-aways:

Key take-aways:
- Go with God's flow - I must be flexible. It also means letting go of pre-conceived notions which may no longer hold true.
- Be available - Not all the time He'll send me to places that are comfortable, or send me at times that are convenient. It's important, therefore, to be flexible AND available.
- Learn from mistakes - This is critical. I made and continue to make mistakes, but I try to learn from them. I try to renew my mind as my flaws are revealed.
- Step in confidence - Confidence is courage, particularly when my viewpoint is vastly different from the world and people around. It also is about being sure of myself, knowing that it's not unfolding in my strength, but His.
- Enjoy life! - Can there be a greater witness of how good God is?! He's done so much for us that it doesn't do justice if we walk around sour-faced and sad and complaining all the time.
I sought, I found. However, I still have more distance to cover, but the journey continues...
