My Last-Weekend-In-April Update
Friday
Being a work day, I spent most of it working. The downside - I was coughing. This was actually one of the worse coughing episodes because by the time I left the office, the headache was different...and not in a good way. It almost felt like something shifted in my head. I am honestly afraid to be in the office now. This feeling is very disconcerting.Anyways, I got home and relaxed a bit before heading to UWI Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts (aka, PSCCA) to assist the UWI Panoridim Steel Orchestra as a ticket salesperson (Front of House they say). From what I heard from the outside, it was a good concert. After leaving there, I went to a chill spot by Banyan. Twas a nice lyme with friends. It did not hurt to have won a kalooki game :-). I also met the owner who recognised me (my name rather) as a lady who always ordered food in the plastic container (vs foam). She was gracious enough to seek a plastic container to package my meal so I wouldn't need to use the foam :-)
Saturday
I got out of bed in the late morning...the exact time is eluding me. I had thoughts of exercising but alas! Later in the afternoon, I went for Day 2 of Front of House. The heat was a bit draining, but one survives when one has to. I should say one of the highlights of the time there was "schooling" a young man (could have been in his late teens or early 20s) on not being nasty. While I was standing at the door to the theatre, I happened to look up and see him gentle rest a plastic bottle on the brown grass. He looked up while he did it, hoping noone saw...not his lucky day. I simply shook my head and then pointed to a bin which was beside me. Fortunately, he did what he should have done in the first place...and I reminded him that he should be setting a good example for others and not being a part of the problem (with a smile of course). The other part of the day was spent with Go for God ladies at the monthly GNO. It was a blessing to be there. Ladies that were panelists as well as audience members shared some powerful testimonies. Summary of it all: we must be faithful to God and know that He has already provided for us, regardless of where He has or is taking us. The speakers' testimonies connected with me, one more so --> I don't usually "hear" from God in direct ways, but I can see where He is leading me and had led me in the past.
One of the thoughts I had while I listened to the speakers was that of greening the meetings. I had a plastic cup in my hand and thought - this should not go with the regular garbage...would they be open to doing things a little differently? Upon mulling on it for a little, I continued to listen and put it somewhere in the back of my mind...but just for a while. At the end of the meeting, they gave out some very lovely bookmarks. I decided to graciously accept whatever colour I got. And that colour was green! I thought, wow! A sign Lord? A sign indeed. Having yet again spoke with Ms Banyan (Simone), I was more convinced as was she that this is a part of my calling. So I await directions on the right way to proceed.
Sunday
A late morning...again! I'll say here medication for sinus draining has something to do with it. It was a true struggle to get out of bed, but finally rolled out, dressed, and went to Go for God. I had originally planned on visiting another church, but opted to go there as I was asked to visit at the meeting yesterday. Some very cool people. Being late, it should be no surprise that much of the sermon (being delivered by Dr Pat) was missed. However, what I did receive was at first not clear for me, but later made sense. Not that her delivery was bad, but more the digestion process on my end. Summary: we must accept the prophesies of God for our lives, and importantly also to break curses which may dog our path. In the end, she allowed us to take a step in that direction and pray for release!Day 3 of Front of House continued in the p.m. And so did the heat for the 4pm show. But I survived. I did go to see the last show at 7p.m. - the players are talented, the energy was high, the musicality was good, the lighting added flavour. My favorite to dance to (and play when I was in the band) - Try Jah Love (Third World original). The most memorable piece - Symphony in G Minor. I admit that sections of concert allowed me to get my daily workout. All in all, a good night.
The Week Ahead
I have a few things on my agenda:No 1: Reading sections of the Book of James before heading to work. This started last week following a challenge on prioritising the important things in life.
No 2: Doing laundry. The basket is full...almost over-flowing.
No. 3: Aprendo el espaƱol. I am currently trying to recite the Lord's Prayer in spanish, so I intend to know it without needing to read it.
No. 4: Get my jaw checked out...story for another time.
No. 5: Get a check-up. This sinus draining that causes me to cough is now beyond help from over-the-counter drugs. I am praying that antibiotics are not required...
Above all, I will pray constantly - in thanksgiving, for my family and friends, for His favour, for healing, for Nepal (the earthquake recovery, etc), for clarity (including signs)...
