The Circle of Life...on Broadway!

The Lion King!
Hakuna Matata - What a wonderful phrase!

If you read my post about the Bucket List, you would know that Lion King on Broadway was one of the things I really wanted to "do" before I...you know...

Hakuna Matata - Ain't no passing craze!

I did it!

It means no worries for the rest of your days.

Worth every $135.

It's a problem free philosphy, Hakuna Matata!

I went with one of my friends who lives in the NY area. Since I was heading there for a meeting, I thought, why not try to make it (once it won't interfere with my work). So, I arrived a day before the meeting, did some warm-clothes shopping, then headed to Times Square to the Minksoff Theatre. We were hoping to get discounted tickets, but it seems this show never really has much of those. I suppose I can see why.

Times Square

The show started almost on time. I guess people were streaming in and they had to allow for them to be seated. We were in the seats right below the stage. Not the best of seats but decent enough.

How would I rate the show? Fantastic! The music and singing were good. The costumes? Colourful and innovative and just plain good. The stage production? Wow! The acting was good also...the cast was spot-on.

My favorites: Stand-outs of the cast included Mufasa, Scar, Zazu, Timone and young Simba. The baboon was pretty good also - she sang beautifully. From the intro of the blog, you can tell I enjoyed singing along to some of the songs. But I must say, the Circle of Life gave me goosies! - the live music coupled with well-blended voices and the entire cast of "animals" dancing in all the colourful glory to the backdrop of the rising sun.

Nala and I
The Lion King on Broadway. It is NOT cheap, but very much worth it (just buy the tickets online...lesson learnt the hard way).

What will I check next? Europe maybe? Hmm...
